Description

Aesthetics for Merchandising & Design is a study of the basic principles and elements of design and the relationships these elements to the 5P’s and brand identity. Color, texture, line, light, space, movement, and other principles are discussed to teach how to identify and use these elements properly to create a pleasing and successful aesthetic design.
Objectives:
• Understand how aesthetic experience affects the body, soul, and mind of the individuals and the importance of it
• Recognize the 5 P’s for building brand identity
• Recognize how sociocultural difference across and within cultures may affect aesthetic preferences
• Evaluate the role of color, light, line shape, texture, space and movement, and auditory and olfactory cues in building brand identity through the 5 P’s and other activities
• Analyze the importance of complexity, order and novelty to the 5 P’s and for professionals
• Demonstrate competency through creating a full scale window display from concept to cr
