Automation Technician Basics (AMAR 1100)

Description

Students will learn about materials, equipment, and procedures involved in manufacturing maintenance. Students will learn about tools and tool safety including hand and power tools, test tools, meters, and precision measurement tools. This course will cover fastening methods including threaded and non-threaded fasteners, adhesives, torque, drill and tap procedures. It covers print reading, electrical schematic symbols, fluid power schematic symbols, P&ID schematics, and introduction to automation studio simulation software. Other safety topics covered include OSHA, PPE, eye safety, fire safety, proper lifting techniques, confined spaces, and safe use of ladders and scaffolding. Basic first aid/CPR will be discussed. Prerequisite: AMAR 1010 Orientation and Activities.
