Description
This course starts with health and safety in composite fabrication including routes of exposure, hazards with matrix systems, hazards with fibers, exposure limits, solvents, and personal protective equipment. It will give an overview of composite technology and include topics such as matrix and fiber types, mold preparation, wet lay-up, vacuum bagging, prepreg materials, fiber orientation, filament winding, core materials, composite structural design and service life considerations. Hands on labs will accompany all learning modules. This course consists of online, text, and lab training. Prerequisite: AMAR 1100 Automation Technician Basics.
Objectives:
• Learn common routes of exposure such as absorption, inhalation, injection, and ingestion.
• Learn hazards associated with matrix systems and fibers.
• Learn exposure limits and dangers of solvents.
• Learn proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
• Learn about advantages and disadvantages of composites and typical applicati
