Description

This course will provide students with advanced skills in the Shielded Metal Arc Process, learning how to weld 6? schedule 80 pipe in the 2G, 5G, and 6G positions. Weld progression will be uphill in 5G and 6G positions.
Prerequisites:
Students enrolling in the class must have successfully completed the BATC Pipe Welding Intermediate program, or have equivalent welding experience in the Shielded Metal Arc Process with evidence of prior welder qualification on mild steel plate in the 3G, 4G positions.
Objectives: Advanced
? Welding Safety- students will study welding safety, including but not limited to: Protective clothing, how to set up and use welding equipment and machinery, eye protection, proper exhaust system, being aware of safety related barriers, MSDS data sheets, and follow lockout/tag procedures. All students will take a written safety test.
