Description

Explains general safety rules, OSHA codes and standards, personal protective equipment (PPE), fire safety, electrical safety as specified in the NFPA 70E certification, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined spaces, hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens, and industrial hygiene. Teaches how to use Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the Global Harmonized System (GHS). Discusses the causes and results of accidents and the impact of accident costs. Students required to certify in first aid and CPR with AED. Covers, ergonomics, lifting techniques, and ladder/scaffolding safety. Prerequisite: ELEC 1001 Computer Tools for Technology
