Basic Electrical Theory & Wiring (AMAR 1200)

Description

This course covers basic electrical topics including electrical fundamentals, basic electricity, basic electrical circuits, electrical systems and protection, alternating current, relays, transformers, grounding and bonding. Students also gain knowledge about the distribution of electrical power in a manufacturing facility, including service feeders, branch circuits, and control circuits. Students learn to bend conduit and size conductors for common home and control circuits. Prepares students for troubleshooting electrical systems found in manufacturing processes. Topics related to the NEC code will be explored. Electrical safety topics will be covered. Prerequisite: AMAR 1010 Orientation and Activities.

• Learn proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Learn electrical safety as part of the NFPA 70E standard.
