Description

This course will be a hands-on approach to learning the components of a sUAS (small unmanned aerial system). By building, programming, and flying their own drone, students will learn about batteries and power distribution systems, Brushless dc motors, electronic speed controls, RF transmitters and receivers, flight controllers, sensors, telemetry systems, and flight characteristics. Students will get hands on practice with wiring, soldering, mechanical assembly, and programming. Prerequisites: ELEC1011 Electronics Assembly and ELEC2500 Drone Piloting UAVs.
Objectives:
• Learn about components of a sUAS.
• Build a sUAS from scratch.
• Get hands-on practice in wiring and soldering a drone build.
• Get hands-on practice with mechanical assembly of a drone build.
• Learn about drone sensors, telemetry systems, and flight characteristics.
• Program a sUAS for flight control.
• Fly a user built drone
