Description

This is an essential course for anyone looking for jobs in printing companies or pre-press service bureaus. Students will learn the fundamentals of desktop publishing design and layout, and detailed use of at least one major digital publishing software package to create professional quality documents, including stationary, business cards, advertisements, brochures, newsletters, manuals, and other printed materials. Students will learn from positive and negative examples and will build a portfolio of their own best work.
Objectives:
†Outline and discuss the history, technologies, software, and trends of the desktop publishing industry
†Create sample layouts using effective principles of design
†Use fonts and typography appropriately in documents
†Use advanced features of industry standard desktop publishing software to effectively and efficiently create a variety of documents
†Collect and prepare files for output for professional quality printing
†Convert and deliver
